About Tom Monroe
Tom Monroe, PDGA #33, helped develop organized disc sports as a competitor, promoter, and tournament director. The Hall’s existing induction record identifies him as director of the first PDGA tournament in 1977, where he finished second to Steve Slasor, and of the 1983 PDGA World Championships.
The same record traces his work with Frisbee South to 1976 and his service on the PDGA board to 1983. It recognizes him as the PDGA’s Player of the Decade for the 1980s and an inaugural inductee of the international Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 1993.
His competition record spans field events, overall competition, singles, and doubles. The Hall lists seven PDGA Grand Masters singles world titles between 1992 and 2002, alongside multiple doubles championships. Florida honored Monroe in its Class of 2023 with John Kirkland and P.J. Callender.
